  • METALHEAD WEDDING AT THE GATHERING AT WOODHEAD FARM

THE ONE WITH THE ROCKER COUPLE, MEDIEVAL VENUE, AND A CONGA LINE Ruth and David had a wedding that was so unapologetically them and we take our hats off to them for this. From David’s original email when they enquired a couple years ago, to our coffee meeting in Glasgow which lasted hours, to their wedding was all such a joy to be a part of. We knew we were onto a winner when they told us how they got engaged. It was in the middle of a mosh pit which, if you know them, suits them wonderfully. What a cool pair! The wedding was at a new venue for us which was The Gathering at Woodhead Farm. This venue was built to look like a medieval barn and the level of detail in this place was incredible. Albeit a dark venue to match the vibe but we like a challenge! What we took from this day the most was how calm and happy these two were. There was a couple challenges they faced on their wedding day but you honestly wouldn’t believe it when talking to them. We talk a lot about letting go of some control on your wedding day as they can be so unpredictable and this day was a good example. During their outside ceremony the rain started so everyone got up and ran inside for a make shift ceremony in the barn. Still smiling, Ruth and David did the rest of their ceremony inside whilst we all huddled up to keep warm. The humanist Elizabeth McConnell did a great job. The music was on point for this wedding. We have very similar music taste so as you can imagine, myself and Tonie were in our element. A highlight for us was Ruth walking down the aisle to a Bring Me The Horizon song. What a hero. The couple were surprised by the three piece band Sticks ‘n’ Kicks in the evening by Dave’s mum. Capturing their reaction was priceless and the impromptu conga line this started was hilarious. We left this wedding agreeing that it would have been a really great wedding to be a guest at and I think that is a top compliment to the couple for having such a fun and relaxed day. Thanks to these guys for having us and check out some of our favourites below.

Kirsty + Lloyd had a bloody magical wedding at Errol Park with all their close family and friends. • AN EMOTIONAL SCOTTISH WEST COAST ELOPEMENT

THE ONE WITH THE CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY, WINDY BEACHES, AND BEAUTIFUL SOULS

  • AN EMOTIONAL ELOPEMENT ON THE ISLE OF SKYE

THE ONE WITH THE FAIRY GLEN, EMOTIONAL CEREMONY, AND HAND FASTING It is always such an honour and a compliment to be asked to capture an elopement. There is something so incredibly personal and I don’t think we will ever take this for granted. Natalie and Gary had their ceremony on top of a small hill in the midst of the Fairy Glen in Isle of Skye. The ceremony was conducted by the humanist Francesca Leigh who told us their story and shared some beautiful words Natalie and Gary had said about each other. Between the emotional ceremony and incredible backdrop, we were blubbering messes. Good thing we have cameras to hide behind! These guys were lovely to capture and ventured out to the Old Man of Storr and The Quiraing with us which was no mean feat as the wind was something else! Here are a few of our favourites.

  • OUTDOOR TROSSACHS WEDDING AT VENACHAR LOCHSIDE

One of our early weddings of 2021 was at the lovely Venachar Lochside. This is such a beautiful venue and suited their small wedding perfectly. We are always a sucker for an outdoor ceremony and the weather held out for these guys to use the decking with stunning views. It was great working with Michelle Gillan who filmed they day and the beautiful florals were by Betty Bluebell.

  • OUTDOOR WINTER BEACH WEDDING AT FINDHORN BEACH

THE ONE WITH THE MATCHING DOG, YELLOW BEACH HUT, AND BARE FOOT DANCING Findhorn Beach was the stunning northern setting for Camilla and Angus' wedding last November. The beach itself is one of the most visited in Scotland, with miles of pebbles and beautiful views. After having to postpone their wedding several times due to the pandemic, the pair settled on a November 5th wedding with a smaller guest list of 20 people, and use of the small privately-owned beach huts to sign their registrar. Of the row of multi-coloured huts, Camilla and Angus had the yellow one, which was so vibrant and looked amazing in photographs! The guests were all so wonderful and made us a part of the day. The couple looked beautiful, the bridesmaids wore lovely autumnal orange velvet dresses, and Percy – Camilla and Angus' miniature Daschund – wore a tiny bow tie and jacket in matching tartan with the groomsmen's trousers. SO CUTE! Once the pair had picked their spot on the beach, huge plant pots with incredible flowers marked the top of the aisle, which kept it minimalist but perfect. They were later used at the entrance to Kale Yard, where the reception was held. The quirky venue and surrounding gardens made for some brilliant photos. Due to restrictions, Kale Yard was not allowed to have any indoor music or dancing, but Camilla and Angus came prepared. They nipped outside to have their first dance, music playing on a portable speaker, Camilla in bare feet, and their guests watching on at the windows. We got to know this genuinely lovely couple quite well because of the interactions we had with them when trying to rearrange plans with them for their wedding, so it was such a wonderful feeling to watch them finally be able to marry after an awful year for everyone. We had previously had a couple's shoot with them at Findhorn Beach so they were both pros in front of the camera, and the views were just amazing. With it being Firework's night, everyone had sparklers, making for great photos. Camilla and Angus smiled the whole day despite the changes they had to make to be able to marry, and there was no doubt at all that they were filled with happiness regardless. Thank you so much to Camilla and Angus for having us! Our job is extra special when clients become friends. Check out a tiny good boy in a tiny bow tie below!

  • 2020 ROUNDUP

2020 was without a doubt the most strange, confusing, and painfully sad years in all of our lives. For us personally, it meant a massive reduction in weddings, a lot of stress, a fair amount of boredom, and little opportunity to do what we love - photograph loved-up couples! There wasn’t much we could do about a lot of it, but we knew we couldn’t go too long without getting creative behind the camera. We took on a little photography project early in lockdown, and then towards the end of the year, we did some family shoots to keep us on our toes. It was lovely to spend some time with happy couples and families again, even if it was at a distance. Despite the circumstances, we were incredibly lucky enough to be able to capture more than our fair share of couples, adapting to new rules and enjoying wonderful days at intimate weddings with our couples. Our clients tend to do a great job of integrating us into the day normally, but this year in particular it was really special to be there and involved in these smaller weddings and elopements. Although 2020 came with a whole bunch of new hurdles for brides and grooms across the globe, we were so happy to be able to work with our couples through countless coffee-filled zoom meetings, to reschedule dates or point them in the direction of a new photographer. For those who went ahead with their wedding during a pandemic, we cannot thank you enough for having us and giving us a bit of normality amongst the chaos. It really was an escape for us; a special day in amongst the doom and gloom of the year, where we could get up and do our job, surrounded by happy people, full of excitement and joy. They really did keep us going this year, and we are so proud of our couples who saw the light in the darkness of 2020. It was a pleasure to capture you all, and we can’t wait to photograph a lot more of your lovely faces in 2021! A year that forced us to have smaller venues and guest lists by no means meant any less love and laughter, and for that, there is no end to our gratitude. Check out some of our favourite images from the year the world pressed pause.

  • A WILD WEDDING AT EILEAN DONAN CASTLE

THE ONE WITH THE CASTLE, THE RUNAWAY PHOTOGRAPHER, AND THE SNAIL TRAIL Last month, we were at Eilean Donan Castle with Ashley and Hannah for their windy wedding. We had no idea what to expect for this one – we didn’t even know you could get married at the castle, but we were certainly excited about it! Like us, our bride and groom had no idea if weddings were held at Eilean Donan, but they had driven by it long before they were even engaged, and agreed then and there that if they were ever to get married, that is where they would do it. And they did just that! As you can imagine, a wedding in a 13th-century castle is going to be epic, but we were not fully prepared for just how so! To say that the venue was stunning and magical and regal all at once wouldn’t be enough to do it justice. It was the perfect fairytale Scottish venue, perched on an island and surrounded by the merging waters of three lochs; connected to land by a beautiful stone bridge with a scenic mountainous backdrop. Seriously, what more could we ask for?! The pair got ready at the on-site lodges, where we photographed them during the prep. The day got off to a hilarious start when Ashley drove up whilst we were in the middle of getting some shots of the wedding dress outside, resulting in Tonie scooping it up and running away around the side of the building to ensure the groom didn’t catch a glimpse of the dress before he was meant to! I’m sure there was a brief moment of confusion for the bridal party as they looked up to see the photographer running past their window carrying the bride’s dress. All in a day’s work, folks! After the ceremony, we took the couple up to a viewpoint that we had discovered the night before. The pair had arranged for us to stay in a nearby Air BnB prior to the wedding, which gave us time to scope out the area for the best picture points, and when we found one we loved, we emailed Hannah to make sure they’d be up for the trek – and they were! We took them to a brilliant spot looking down on to Loch Duich, where the weather was absolutely freezing, complete with snow, sleet, and high winds. We had to forcibly wrap Hannah up in our tartan blanket, but they couldn’t have been better troopers for braving the elements (and then some!) to let us get incredible shots. When we got back to the venue, Hannah’s dress was soaked, and she walked into the hall leaving a trail of water where her dress hit the floor. A heater was brought in to try to warm her up before the couple had their first dance to a super unique choice of Florence Welsh and The xx. Cute! As if shooting a wedding at one of the most iconic venues in Scotland wasn’t enough, we got to do it alongside a wonderful couple and their lovely guests as well. We won’t forget that wedding in a hurry, guys - and not just because we’re still trying to warm up from it. Stick a jacket on, make a hot drink, and check out our top picks from this perfect North of Scotland winter wedding below!

  • AN EDINBURGH CITY ELOPEMENT

THE ONE WITH THE COWBOY BOOTS, THE HANDMADE KILT, AND THE TINY GUEST LIST After finding us on Instagram, Coleman and Zeno got in touch with us about their intimate family wedding in Edinburgh in July last year. Married in the City Chambers, these guys were so cute and super lovely. The whole wedding consisted of just eight people - the newlyweds included - and started off in a stunning apartment that the couple had hired out. Capturing them preparing for their big day here was brilliant. There was amazing colours, art and light surrounding them - the combination of which is always a wee dream for us! We were made to feel comfortable right away, relaxing in the apartment, getting to know their close family, and hearing stories about the pair (which always makes us feel like we know them better). Coleman, who is American, made his own kilt for the wedding, which we thought was an awesome touch! He paired it with cowboy boots he’d gotten for his graduation. A 10/10 ensemble! When everyone was ready, we headed along to the City Chambers. We have photographed there a few times, but each time is a new surprise, as there are a bunch of different rooms to get married in. Coleman and Zeno’s room was small, intimate, with no frills, which we thought seemed fitting, as the whole day was just about them celebrating their love. The pair chose to get married in Edinburgh as it was where they met - despite neither of them being from there. After the ceremony, they gave us free rein for photo locations. We took the guys to a few spots we knew were great for shooting couples with some amazing lighting, and then wandered around Edinburgh a bit to get some more shots. We had the idea to incorporate the family in the background as though they were just passers-by, which led to Coleman’s dad pulling out a few tourist poses for fun. We then headed to their wedding dinner at Timberyard where they had a private dining room. Whilst the other guests heard about the food options, we grabbed the pair away to the courtyard for some more shots, before leaving them to enjoy the rest of their perfect day. Doing a wedding this tiny was a nice little change for us, and to feel like we were a part of it was something special. There are always things we take away from weddings and talk about for months and even years after, and based on how sweet Coleman and Zeno were, they became a bit of a household name for us. Honestly, guys, you were the loveliest. We love our job! Have a browse through our collection of favourites from the day below!
