  • A CELESTIAL THEMED WEDDING AT KINKELL BYRE

THE ONE WITH THE ARCADE GAMES, THE GOLDEN DINOSAURS, AND LED ZEPPELIN Kinkell Byre (which is a similar vibe to The Cow Shed Crail and Pratis Barns) was the stunning setting for Ruby and Mike this July. They came to us with the idea of a super rustic wedding, and we were keen to spend another day at one of our favourite locations! When our couples choose to get married in a gorgeous blank canvas venue like Kinkell, we are always so excited to see what they do with the space. And space they did! The wedding was kitted-out by the ever-awesome Gloam, which included moons, stars, and arcade games; beautiful flowers by Blue Poppy Florist; and super cute golden dinosaur favours! We started the day shooting bride and groom prep in big light-filled lodges not far from the venue - where Mike gifted his groomsmen with pins, each with something they loved on them - before both parties headed to the barn in an old American Ford Fairlane 500 and a VW campervan. The lovely ceremony kicked off with Ruby walking down the aisle to Led Zeppelin’s Bron-Y-aur Stomp, which was to our absolute delight. What a song! Then everyone was outside in the sun for a champagne reception, whilst we took Ruby and Mike for some pictures against Kinkell’s iconic red doors to hide away from the harsh light of the sun. We’re not vampires, we promise. Following another few rounds of snaps in the field and the woodlands, it was time for food and a few awesome speeches! After the meal (at sci-fi themed tables), we borrowed the pair for some photographs against the amazing backdrop, and Ruby and Mike – who were practically professional Rachel and Tonie models, having done their engagement shoot with us as well - provided Rachel with one of her favourite images of the whole year. Ruby hugging Mike from behind in front of the stunning lights, standing on a rug. The lighting. The composition. The happy faces. And did we mention THE LIGHTING?! Ugh. Yes. The day ended with everyone on the dancefloor, and a special dance between Ruby and her grandad, which was one of the most emotional we’ve seen at a wedding. We’re not crying; you’re crying! Overall, we can’t say enough good things about the lovely couple, their (really friendly and fashionable-as-hell) guests, and their equally lovely venue. We got on so well with everyone, and Kinkell is a BIG must-check-out if you’re looking for a barn wedding - and you can get as creative as you’d like with the huge space! We’re over the moon for you, guys! Take a look at our top pics, including one of our contenders for photo of the year!

  • AN ALTERNATIVE DESTINATION WEDDING IN MALLORCA

We met Matt and Jen at the airport and their wedding began there. These guys brought us out to Mallorca to capture their awesome destination vegan wedding with their close friends and family. We left this wedding having made some true friends and had an absolute blast capturing them all. Here is a few favourites from the journey. Both Matt and Jen went to the market in the morning of their wedding and picked fresh flowers for the day. Matt got his hair done by his friend Colin who owns Hard Grind on the beach and Jen got ready at their beautiful venue Bella Verde. We have a lot of love these guys and their beautiful day.

  • A FLORAL COASTAL WEDDING AT COW SHED CRAIL

THE ONE WITH THE SEA OF FLOWERS, THE SING-OFF, AND THE CURVE BALL We were at Cow Shed Crail last September with Ashley and Mark, who were over from America to Mark’s home country for their big day! With our photography style in mind, they got in contact with us after checking out our Instagram, and we are always excited to get back to one of our favourite venues! The Cow Shed is an excellent blank canvas - similar to Pratis Barns and Kinkell Byre- which looks different every time we show up, making each shoot new and exciting. This time though, was pretty special. It was kitted out by the ever-wonderful Gloam, and Blue Poppy Florist and had - hands down - the most flowers we’ve ever seen at a venue. Stunning. The award for highest floral content goes to you, Ashley and Mark! The day kicked off with both parties getting in cottages with Lesley Neil and Pin Up Glasgow, before Rachel and the girls made their way to the church in VW Campervans, made extra special by the fact that it was their last ever voyage before the owners were off to travel the world in them! However, we were thrown a curve ball when we arrived at the venue, as the church rules prohibited photographers from entering the aisles – or the hall for that matter. Initially we were a bit disappointed, but when we saw the light coming in from the balcony, which Tonie was photographing from, we agreed it looked pretty amazing. Every cloud! After the ceremony, a quick family and friends shoot in the courtyard (where we decided that sunglasses are the ultimate wedding accessory), and a little mingle with the guests, everyone headed back to The Cow Shed, whilst we met Ashley and Mark in their camper at St Andrew’s beach. The shoes were off as we wandered the beach to the harbour, stopping to capture the couple throughout, before being met with a champagne reception at the venue. With everyone sat down for dinner, the groomsmen and bridesmaids danced into the room together, followed by Mark’s professional comedian brother and best man giving a speech worth paying money on the door for! As it darkened, we took the pair outside for some fairy light shots, then the night ended with the Scottish and American guests singing their respective national anthems at one another, in some sort of epic sing-off battle. Pitch Perfect eat your heart out! From hilarious speeches to the groom saying he wished Tonie could dress him every morning, and everything in-between, we had an incredible day with Ashley and Mark. It’ll be one that sticks with us for a long time! Scroll down for our solution to church rule problems, cool guests in sunglasses, and our favourites shots from the day!

  • A BOHO WOODLAND BACK GARDEN WEDDING IN ABERDEEN

THE ONE WITH THE AMAZING DRESS, THE LIGHTER SHORTAGE, AND THE FIRE PIT We were super excited to be asked by Helen and Stevie to photograph their day, as Stevie used to be a wedding photographer himself! It’s always an incredible honour, (and a little nerve-wracking!), to be trusted to capture the wedding day of a fellow photographer - especially one Rachel had worked with in the past! The pair had decided to get married at Helen’s family home in Aberdeenshire, and after seeing the beauty and scope the land had to offer, it was no surprise why! Helen and Stevie were aiming for a family-focused, boho, woodland-dream vibe, and the day did not disappoint. With marquees ranging in size and purpose, from small tented bars serving up wine and spirits; to huge, wooden-floored spaces lined with benches, bunting and macramé; and hundreds of paper cranes hanging from the roof that a family member had made, the back garden wedding was beyond anything we could have imaged. Fairy lights roped from tree to tree, family gathered around fire pits sharing stories, and a hog roast and a fish & chip van made sure everyone was full. Helen wore what was maybe the most beautiful dress we’ve ever seen. She took her mother’s wedding dress, and together the pair altered and embroidered it, adding reds and greens to create an incredible enhanced dress with meaning. Adding to the theme of family involvement, the couple opted for petal confetti, which was dried by family. During the ceremony, Helen’s brother played guitar whilst his partner sang, and two of the members of the wedding band were Helen’s brothers. Even the family dogs were getting involved! It was lovely to see how much everyone had a hand in helping this day be as special as possible, and to be welcomed into the family for a day whilst we worked. Everyone made it super easy for us to slot in and move around to capture everyone in the various different areas. The day was topped off by escaping the light of summertime and gathering everyone in the nearby woodland to light around forty-five sparklers (with only two lighters!), and get those incredible sparkler shots. Top tip for you: buy the giant sparklers! Top tip for us: carry spare lighters. We are lucky enough to shoot some unbelievable weddings, but his one was definitely up there! Check out our best bits from one of our top “this is our job!” days of 2019.

  • A FUN AND COLOURFUL WEDDING AT THE BARN AT BARRA CASTLE

THE ONE WITH THE CUSTOM-BREW, THE TRAMPOLINE, AND THE POLYTUNNELS We were on the outskirts of Inverurie at The Barn at Barra Castle (which is similar to Gaurdswell Farm and GG's Yard) this April, with the lovely Victoria and Duncan. After coming across our Facebook page, the pair got in contact with us about their big day at the incredible venue, and thought we’d be a perfect match. The morning began with the bridesmaids getting ready in an on-site lodge, which was brilliant for letting in that perfect bridal prep light. We both had a great laugh with the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, which is always the best way to start our day, and makes for some excellent photographs. The ceremony was held in a beautiful but simple room with a high ceiling, exposed wooden walls, an amazing fire, and a pair of Mr and Mrs balloons. With the light pouring into a bright white room, and our super-in-love couple standing in front of a dark wooden backdrop, it was a dream to capture! Everyone was then treated to some of Victoria and Duncan’s self-brewed beer with custom illustrated labels, which was a nice touch, and we even scored a couple bottles to take home! While their guests enjoyed the beer, Duncan ran to get a change of footwear for Victoria – which he even changed for her, so sweet! – and we headed off into the grounds for a few snaps. We found a cute little old-as-hell outhouse, so we nipped in for some pictures, before coming across a trampoline and instantly hoping the pair would be down to get bouncing! Tonie dragged over a bench for them to be able to easily climb on, and they were more than happy to give it a go. Our favourite shot of the day was of our newlyweds, holding hands, mid-air. Too good! We then got some great images in the nearby polytunnels before heading back to the venue. A proper successful shoot! Hilarious (and slightly explicit) speeches with props; personalised Ladybird books as favours; and incredible catering made this wedding one to remember - along with a stunning venue and great people. We’re glad we got to capture your day, guys! Scroll down for a look at our hard-to-whittle-down best shots!

  • OUTDOOR CAMUSDARACH BEACH WEDDING IN MALLAIG

THE ONE WITH THE HARRY POTTER TRAIN, THE DAPPER DOG, AND FLEEING A STORM We made our way just South of Mallaig to Camusdarach beach this summer to shoot Rozy and Matt on their special day! Rozy was pointed in our direction by one of her friends, whose destination wedding we photographed in Mallorca in 2018, and after hearing about their idea for their day, we were super excited to shoot our first beach nuptials! Whilst Rachel kicked the day off capturing the girls getting ready in a nearby cottage with some of the best lighting of the year, Tonie headed down to help the men set up on the beach. They built the triangle arch together, and Tonie suggested that they decorate it with ferns. Matt liked the idea, so one of his groomsmen crossed a stream in his bare feet to gather some. Ten points for effort and lovely last-minute DIY plant decor! As the bridal party headed over to the location, our local taxi driver suggested we stop off at the train station, as the famous Jacobite Train was due to be passing soon. Both Rachel and Rozy were all over the idea, so with the help of the bridesmaids, we got Rozy set up and ready just in time for the train passing. It made for an excellent shot, and the passengers were all waving at her on the platform. Happy bride, happy photographer! Then we all arrived at the beach for a beautiful ceremony in front of friends and family, made better by Rozy and Matt’s two dogs by their side - one of which was dressed in a suit. Cute! Afterwards, everyone enjoyed scones and green tea on the beach, before heading to Astley Hall in the village of Arisaig for the reception. For us, there is no such thing as too many fairy lights, and the hall didn’t disappoint. Banquet tables, the bride and groom’s own decorations, and a great bunch of guests made for the perfect atmosphere. The newlyweds then asked us if we’d like to get involved, so after the cameras were packed away, we joined them for a drink and a dance - it would have been rude not to! We had a blast at this wedding; another of our favourites from this year and another new location to explore. A highlight for us was stealing the couple away for some pictures on the beach, where they were totally up for climbing up rocks and being carried over puddles in record time before a storm rolled in. Absolute champs! Scroll to see dapper dogs, Harry Potter trains, and a selection of our favourite images from an incredible day!

  • SCOTTISH CITY WEDDING IN WEST BREWERY

THE ONE WITH THE BREWERY, THE PRETZEL CANAPES, AND THE HOMEBREW FAVOURS We were with Shannon and Daniel last August at WEST Brewery in Glasgow for their big day. The pair came across us long before they had started making any wedding plans, but knew they wanted to have us capture their day when the time came. And were so glad they did! Having shot at WEST before, we were excited to get back into that setting with a brand-new couple. Set in Glasgow Green, the location was perfect for those indoor industrial shots next to barrels, brew tanks, and gorgeous exposed brick walls; and for escaping out to the park to get some pictures in the sunshine. We love the venue, which we often dip into when in Glasgow for some awesome food and drink, and there is definitely something super cool about shooting at a brewery! Shannon and Daniel both work in the alcohol industry – hence the venue choice. Their tables were named after their love for travel and booze, which was a cool touch. Shannon’s dress was lovely, topped off by an amazing flower crown by Betty Bluebell. Beautiful! This wedding wasn’t short of a treat or two, with a stunning cake by Moonbow bakery, a table of cakes and sweets, and favours for all the guests in the form of Shannon and Daniel’s own homebrewed cocktails in jars. We absolutely love this kind of personal touch! The guests were treated to a tour of the brewery, but when it was empty, we took the bride and groom back in for more pictures. The photos we got here were in complete contrast to the ones we captured earlier in the park, so it was great to cover the whole spectrum. In the evening, everyone was in the best of spirits, up dancing and having a great time, which is always a joy to capture and makes our job that bit easier. Overall, we had a great day shooting this wedding. It’s incredible how often we work a full day but feel like we’ve had the best time. Shannon and Daniel were a breeze to photograph and a joy to spend the day with, as well as their super nice guests, who we agreed on our drive home were some of the nicest we’ve encountered to date - and that is saying something! A personal highlight for Tonie was the pretzels which were served instead of canapés. Because Tonie loves pretzels. Like, a lot. Take a look at our best of WEST below!

  • A VINTAGE INSPIRED WEDDING AT BOSWELL ESTATE

Not only did Fiona make her flowers, ALL that bunting you see and a butt load of others things within this wedding, she also made her dress. HER DRESS. My gosh this wedding was stunning. Craig and Fiona are a wonderful couple who I am so grateful to have met and got to capture. What babes. Venue: Boswell Estate

  • DESTINATION WEDDING IN MALCESINE, LAKE ORTA

Nick + Lorraine flew us out to Italy to photograph their beautiful wedding in Malcesine, Lake Orta. They were married at Malcesine Castle and celebrated in a restaurant a short walk below there ceremony venue which was right at the water. My gosh! This was a beautiful wedding! It was such a dream to photograph here and to photograph such relaxed and cool people. We felt like a part of the wedding and both Nick + Lorraine and their guests made us feel so welcomed. The sun set as everyone had their meal and we ventured out to the lake to take a few more snaps of the couple before they cut their cake and danced. Bellissimo!

  • A DESTINATION WEDDING IN SORRENTO, ITALY

We got to fly out and photograph Laura + Gareth tying the knot in Sorrento and what a wedding it was! After doing an engagement shoot a couple days prior to the wedding and drinking a little too many home brewed Italian beer at a little pizza restaurant with these two made for such a magical week. Laura and Gareth were married at the St Francis Cloisters and then all the guests hopped on a bus and spent the rest of the evening at Don Pedro Ristorante. Whilst the guests (and Tonie) were travelling, a Fiat took the couple around some picturesque spots for photos. Lucky me travelled around on the wedding coordinators moped who just so happened to be Mr Don Pedro himself. Terryifing! Massive love for these two - here are a few of our favourites.
